SUPPLEMENTARY FEEDING

Supplementary feeding of grain, manufactured feed, or conserved fodder to grazing stock is expensive, time consuming and can be wasteful. Yet supplementing the diets of sheep, cattle, horses and other livestock is an important part of good animal husbandry.

The reason why we supplementary feed animals is;

• to maximize the rate of growth or production of the animal
• to replace a dietary deficiency
• to compensate for insufficient or poor quality pasture
